Ex-Vivo Tissue Imaging

MPT research on ex-vivo tissues include two-photon AF/SHG/FLIM/CARS imaging of a variety of tissue biopsies. Rapid ex-vivo histology on human cornea transplants, on human brain biopsies during surgery, and human skin biopsies has been performed.  Furthermore, ex-vivo MPT imaging on animal tissues of transgenic mice and non-transgenic animal models has been conducted. In-Vivo Animal Research

MPT research on live animals include two-photon AF/SHG/FLIM/CARS imaging. Most MPT studies have been performed in transgenic mice, such as tracking of nestin-expressing stem cells in hair follicles and imaging of the interaction of intratissue cells with engineered anti-cancer bacteria. Furthermore, neuron imaging in mice brain has been conducted.

In-Vivo Clinical Applications

So far, MPT research on thousands of volunteers and patients have been performed in the US, Australia, Japan, China, Russia, UK, France, Italy, and Germany using the CE certified tomographs Dermainspect and MPTflex as well as with two-photon microendoscopes. The clinical studies focused on early detection of skin cancer and brain tumors, dermatitis, diseased cornea,…

In-Vivo Cosmetic Research

MPT cosmetic studies on hundreds of volunteers have been performed in the US, Japan, China, France, and Germany using the CE certified tomographs Dermainspect and MPTflex. The research studies are focusing on the evaluation of anti-ageing products, the evaluation of laser treatments, and the biosafety of sunscreen nanoparticles. The cosmetic companies L’Oreal, Beiersdorf, Chanel, P&G,…

In-Vivo Pharmaceutical Research

MPT studies on pharmaceutical products have been conducted on animals as well as on volunteers and patients in the US, Russia, and in Germany using the CE certified tomographs MPTflex and MPTflex-CARS. The research studies are focusing on the detection of chemotherapeutics in the sweat glands of skin and the measurement of the intratissue pharmacokinetics…

Space Medicine

Multiphoton tomography of four European astronauts has been performed in the European astronaut center before and after their 6months space mission on ISS. Interestingly, an increased biosynthesis of collagen, a reduced melanin content, and a thinner epidermis was detected. More MPT studies on astronaut’s skin should be performed before going to Mars.
